November 21st & 22nd 2009

Make Christmas shopping an enjoyable experience at the Sussex Guild winter exhibition in Ditchling. This annual event provides a friendly, relaxed atmosphere in which visitors can meet the Guild craftsmen, and also affords a chance to purchase unique and beautiful craftwork from the region's finest selected craftspeople. On show will be a stunning array of original artworks in wood, glass, ceramics, jewellery, textiles and other media.

You may have visited the show in previous years…this year you will have the opportunity to meet several new faces exhibiting their crafts for the first time, alongside old friends with new, exciting work.

If you have never been to Ditchling before, you may be interested in some local facts... Ditchling is a medieval village with many beautiful timber-framed buildings, nestling just below the impressive Ditchling Beacon on the rolling South Downs. For new visitors to this village, the museum is of great interest. This is housed in the old church school and has a superb permanent display relating to the artistic past of the village. There is a very long tradition of arts and crafts associated with Ditchling. This stems from the early 20th century when a number of notable artist/craftsmen were based in the area, including Edward Johnston, Ethel Mairet and the eminent Eric Gill.

The Sussex Guild is proud to be following this established tradition by holding its 22nd annual show in the village in November 2008. We hope that we too show some of the best craftwork from the 21st century in our exhibitions.

The event will be held in two venues in Ditchling - in the Village Hall and in St Margaret's Primary School.

The admission ticket affords entry and re-entry to each venue throughout the day.

Excellent home-cooked refreshments will be available at the Village Hall.

Free parking is available at both Ditchling Village Hall and St Margaret's Primary School.
